COURSE CURRICULUM

The indicative sequence for the Bachelor of Design (Architecture) for Semester 1, 2026, provides a structured pathway combining architectural theory, design practice, and technical skills to prepare students for professional careers in architecture and related fields. In the first year, students develop foundational knowledge through units such as Contexts of Architectural History (ARC10003), Introductory Design Studio (DDD10006), Construction 1: Building Systems and Materials (DIA10001), and Interior Architecture Communication (DIA10005). Semester 2 continues with Architectural Design Studio 1 (Communication) (ARC10001), Cross-cultural Contexts (ARC20003), and Interior Architecture Digital Documentation 1 (DIA20003), giving students the tools to communicate design concepts effectively and understand architectural and cultural contexts.In the second year, students build on these foundations with a focus on socio-economic considerations, construction practices, and design integration. Semester 1 includes Architectural Design Studio 2 (Socio-economic Contexts) (ARC20001) and Construction 2: Building Services and Documentation Packages (DIA20001), alongside an elective for further exploration. Semester 2 deepens construction and sustainability knowledge through Architectural Design Studio 3 (Construction) (ARC20002) and Construction 3: Sustainability (DIA30001), preparing students to incorporate sustainable practices into their designs.In the final year, students focus on advanced design, professional practice, and technical communication. Semester 1 includes Architectural Design Studio 4 (Construction) (ARC30001) and Architectural Communication 2 (ARC30003), alongside an elective. Semester 2 concludes with Architectural Design Studio 5 (ARC30002) and Professional Practice 1: BIM (Building Information Management) (ARC30004), complemented by an elective.
