COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Computer Science is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to excel in the rapidly evolving digital world. The course begins with foundational units in computer systems, programming, and web technologies, providing students with a strong base in essential computing concepts. Hands-on projects and practical exercises ensure that students can apply theory to real-world challenges, fostering problem-solving and analytical thinking from the first semester. As students progress, they engage with more advanced topics including object-oriented programming, networks and switching, and 3D modelling for objects and environments, enabling them to develop technical proficiency in both software and interactive digital environments. Majors and specialised units, such as Artificial Intelligence for Games, Software Development for Mobile Devices, Games Programming, and Computing Technology Innovation Projects, allow students to tailor their learning to their career aspirations and interests, gaining deep expertise in cutting-edge technologies. The course emphasizes experiential learning through professional placements, offering students the opportunity to work in industry for 6 to 12 months. These placements provide practical exposure, professional networking, and an understanding of industry standards and workflows, helping students transition seamlessly from study to employment. In the final year, students consolidate their knowledge through capstone projects, such as Computing Technology Project A and B, which integrate software architectures, design principles, deployment, and evolution strategies. Elective units throughout the program allow further customisation, enabling students to explore emerging fields or deepen expertise in specific areas of interest. Graduates leave the program with a comprehensive portfolio of projects, a practical understanding of industry practices, and specialised skills that prepare them for careers as software developers, AI specialists, data scientists, game programrs, and IT professionals.
