COURSE CURRICULUM
The Master of Nursing program is designed to develop advanced clinical skills, evidence-based practice, and professional leadership in nursing across diverse healthcare settings. In the first year, students establish foundational knowledge with units such as The Health Narrative Across the Lifespan (NURS5009) and Introduction to Clinical Practice (NURS5010), which explore patient-centered care and essential clinical skills. Courses such as Health and Indigenous Peoples (INDG6002) and Introductory Pharmacology (PHAR2001) provide understanding of culturally responsive care and pharmacological principles. Core clinical competencies are further developed in Chronic Health and Disability Across the Lifespan (NURS5011), Health Assessment Across the Lifespan (NURS5012), Community Partnerships (NURS5015), and Clinical Nursing I (NURS5014), which integrate theory and practice, enabling students to assess, manage, and support patients in a variety of clinical contexts. In the second year, students advance their expertise with Clinical Nursing II and III (NURS6001, NURS6003), which involve extended professional practice placements, allowing students to consolidate skills in complex clinical scenarios. Evidence-Based Mental Health Nursing (NURS5013) and Nursing Research (NURS5016) equip students with research literacy and the ability to apply evidence to practice. Transition to Practice (HLTH3004) and Interprofessional Health Practice (HLTH3005) develop teamwork, communication, and leadership capabilities essential for collaborative healthcare environments. Promoting Nursing Leadership (NURS6002) further prepares students to take on supervisory and strategic roles in healthcare teams.Through a combination of coursework, clinical placements, and applied research, this program ensures graduates are competent, reflective, and confident practitioners, capable of delivering high-quality, patient-centered care, and contributing to the advancement of nursing practice and leadership across healthcare settings.
