COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Naturopathic Medicine program is designed to provide advanced clinical knowledge, practical skills, and professional competencies for students pursuing a career as a clinical naturopath. In the first year, students focus on foundational and clinical knowledge through units such as Nutritional Medicine (NUTR2001) and Botanical Medicine (NATM2001), which explore diet, nutrition, and herbal therapies. Clinical Studies units build understanding of body systems and disease processes, including Clinical Studies in Naturopathic Medicine 1 (NATM2002), focusing on assessment, microbiology, and immunity, and subsequent units addressing the integumentary and gastrointestinal systems (NATM3001), musculoskeletal and nervous systems (NATM3002), and cardiovascular and respiratory systems (NATM3003). Practice-Based Health Research (HLTH5009) develops skills in evidence-based practice, while Professional Contexts in Naturopathic Medicine 1 and 2 (NATM5010) provide foundational understanding of professional conduct and clinical ethics. In the second year, students progress to advanced clinical training, including Clinical Studies in Naturopathic Medicine 5 to 7 (NATM3004, NATM5008, NATM5009), which cover the urogenital and endocrine systems, cancer and haematological systems, and multi-morbidity and complex cases. Clinical Naturopathic Placement units (NATM6007, NATM6008, NATM6009) provide hands-on experience in professional naturopathic settings, allowing students to apply clinical reasoning, assessment skills, and therapeutic interventions under supervision. Professional Contexts in Naturopathic Medicine 3: Transition to Practice (NATM5011) prepares students for independent practice, addressing professional responsibilities, patient management, and clinical decision-making.This structured program integrates theory, research, and extensive clinical practice, ensuring graduates are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and professional experience required to practice safely and effectively as clinical naturopaths, providing holistic care and addressing complex health needs in diverse patient populations.
