COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Construction Practice curriculum provides students with advanced technical knowledge, project management expertise, and professional skills required for successful careers in the building and construction industry. The program begins with core units such as Construction Project Management, Building Information Modelling Systems, Building Legislation, and Residential Construction, which establish a strong foundation in construction planning, digital technologies, regulatory compliance, and residential building practices. Students then progress to specialised subjects including Building Services and Applications, High Rise Construction, Building Quantities, and Construction Planning, gaining comprehensive knowledge of modern construction methods, cost estimation, scheduling, and the delivery of complex infrastructure projects. In the second year, the program focuses on advanced professional practice through Professional Practice Masters Thesis 1 and 2, enabling students to conduct applied research and address real-world construction challenges using evidence-based approaches. Additional units such as Construction Procurement, Contract Administration, and the Construction Practice Capstone Project develop expertise in procurement strategies, contract management, legal responsibilities, and integrated project delivery. The inclusion of Aboriginal Community Organisations: Ethics and Sustainability enhances students' understanding of ethical practice, cultural awareness, sustainability, and community engagement within the construction sector. Overall, the curriculum prepares graduates to lead construction projects, manage multidisciplinary teams, apply innovative technologies, and deliver sustainable, safe, and efficient construction solutions across diverse industry environments.
