COURSE CURRICULUM

The Agriculture Specialisation within the Bachelor of Science provides students with comprehensive scientific knowledge and practical skills to support sustainable agriculture, food production, and environmental management. The program consists of 24 units with a total of 288 credit points, with each unit carrying 12 credit points, completed over three years. Students begin by developing foundational knowledge in earth systems, biology, chemistry, scientific communication, agriculture, environmental science, data analysis, and Indigenous knowledge. In the second year, students build specialised expertise in areas including soil processes, animal science, plant biology, agronomy, geographic information systems (GIS), ecosystem modelling, quantitative research methods, and environmental sustainability economics. The final year focuses on advanced agricultural topics such as pest, weed and disease management, soil ecology and management, contemporary agricultural approaches, and farm planning, supported by option units that allow students to customise their studies. Through fieldwork, laboratory activities, scientific research, and practical learning experiences, students develop skills in agricultural analysis, resource management, sustainable farming practices, and problem-solving. Graduates are prepared for careers as agricultural scientists, agronomists, farm managers, sustainability consultants, crop advisors, soil specialists, agricultural researchers, and professionals contributing to sustainable food production and agricultural innovation.
