COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Psychological Science is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of human behavior, mental processes, and the scientific principles underpinning psychology. Across three years of study, the program develops foundational and advanced skills in psychological theory, research, and application.In the first year, students are introduced to core concepts through units such as Psychology Foundations: Self and Situation and Psychology Foundations: Brain and Cognition, alongside subjects like Introducing Health Psychology and Positive Psychology. These units explore human behavior from multiple perspectives, fostering critical thinking and an appreciation for the scientific nature of psychology. The inclusion of The Reflective Learner and Health Science Scholar supports academic and professional skill development, preparing students for higher-level study.The second year builds on these foundations with more specialized units, including Quantitative Methods in Psychology, Psychological Assessment, Lifespan Psychology, and Understanding Psychological Diagnoses. Students also gain hands-on research experience through Psychological Investigation I, learning to design, analyze, and interpret psychological studies.In the final year, students deepen their expertise through advanced topics such as Biological Psychology, Social Psychology, Learning and Memory, and Culture and Psychology. They also refine their research and analytical skills in Psychological Investigation II and Advanced Quantitative Methods in Psychology.Throughout the program, elective and shared major units allow flexibility for students to tailor their learning to specific interests, such as clinical, health, or social psychology. Graduates are well-prepared for further study toward becoming registered psychologists or for careers in health, education, community services, and human resource sectors where understanding human behavior is essential.
