COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Information Technology, Bachelor of Business at Southern Cross University combines technology expertise with business knowledge to prepare students for careers in the digital economy. The course consists of 32 units (384 credit points), including business core units, information technology core units, and a specialised IT pathway. The Business component develops skills in areas such as financial literacy, economics, business analytics, marketing, digital marketing strategies, business law, sustainable business management, entrepreneurship, and professional work experience. The Information Technology core provides foundations in programming, computing, data communications and networks, database systems, cybersecurity governance, software engineering practices, and IT project management. Students then select an IT specialisation in Artificial Intelligence or Cybersecurity. The Artificial Intelligence pathway covers programming and software development, machine learning, algorithms, cloud applications, AI application development, and advanced AI technologies, while the Cybersecurity pathway focuses on system security, network security, digital forensics, blockchain technology, and infrastructure protection. The course also includes industry-based learning through IT industry practice and a capstone project, allowing students to apply their skills to real-world challenges. Graduates develop technical, analytical, and business capabilities for careers such as business analysts, IT consultants, AI specialists, cybersecurity professionals, technology managers, and digital transformation leaders.
