COURSE CURRICULUM

The Tourism Major within the Bachelor of Global Hotel and Tourism Management provides students with specialised knowledge and practical skills to succeed in the global tourism and hospitality industry. The program combines business fundamentals with tourism-focused learning, preparing students to understand, manage, and develop tourism experiences in a rapidly changing global environment. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in hospitality operations, accommodation management, food and beverage services, marketing, communication, management practices, and professional development. The second year expands students’ expertise through subjects including tourism theories and practices, special interest tourism, event management, global aviation, hospitality services management, revenue management, and talent and diversity. In the final year, students explore advanced areas such as applied business strategy, sustainable hospitality, cruise industry management, theme park management, business ethics, and artificial intelligence and digital technologies in hospitality. Professional hospitality experience units provide valuable industry exposure, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real workplace settings and develop professional networks. Graduates gain the skills needed for careers in tourism management, destination management, travel operations, aviation, cruise tourism, theme park management, hospitality leadership, and tourism consulting roles across Australia and international markets.
