COURSE CURRICULUM

The year concludes with Community Development (WELF1002) and Counselling Theory and Practice (WELF1003), which equip students with interpersonal and advocacy skills crucial for working in diverse community settings.In the second year, students deepen their professional practice and research capabilities. Case Management and Care Planning (WELF2005) introduces structured approaches to client support, while Field Education I (WELF2001) provides supervised practical experience in a real-world welfare setting. Doing Social Research (SOCI2006) strengthens analytical and data interpretation skills, essential for evidence-based practice. Trauma Informed Practice (WELF2003) teaches students to support individuals affected by trauma with empathy and understanding. Youth Work (WELF2002) focuses on working with young people, addressing challenges in education, housing, and social inclusion. Students also select electives to tailor their studies to personal or professional interests.The third year emphasizes advanced skills and leadership in welfare practice. Planning and Delivering Human Services (WELF3005) and Mental Health (WELF3004) prepare students to design and manage support programs. Disability and Community Practice (WELF3003) and Issues of Protection (WELF3002) explore safeguarding vulnerable populations and promoting inclusion. Field Education II (WELF3001) offers extended practical experience, allowing students to integrate their knowledge in professional environments.
