COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Digital Health by Research at RMIT is a research-focused postgraduate program that combines foundational research training with a substantial supervised thesis to develop expertise in digital health and healthcare innovation. Students begin the program by completing the compulsory course “Doing Research for Sciences,” which must be undertaken before the first milestone review and provides essential knowledge of research design, methodology, ethics, and scientific investigation. In consultation with their supervisory team, students may also undertake one additional research-focused course aligned with their project and career goals. Available options include Research for Impact in Sciences, Quantitative Research Techniques, Qualitative Research Methods, Bioinformatics and Multi-Omics Data Analysis, and Digital Technologies. These subjects allow students to strengthen their analytical, technical, and methodological capabilities while supporting specialised research interests. Students may further broaden their knowledge through up to 12 credit points of approved university research electives. The primary component of the degree is the Masters Research thesis, completed through staged enrolment in research units ranging from 12 to 48 credit points at the Bundoora Campus. Under expert supervision, students conduct original research into areas such as digital health technologies, health informatics, artificial intelligence in healthcare, data analytics, virtual care, and digital health systems. The program prepares graduates for advanced careers in healthcare research, digital innovation, policy development, and health technology sectors.
