COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Professional Accounting is designed for individuals seeking to develop a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, practices, and professional skills. This program is suitable for current workers who have advanced into roles requiring accounting knowledge, as well as for those considering a career in accounting for the first time. Over two years, students engage with a combination of theoretical and practical learning experiences that cover a broad range of accounting disciplines, including auditing and assurance, finance, economics, quantitative methods, information systems, commercial law, corporation law, and taxation law. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through courses such as Accounting, Accountability and Society, Business and Corporations Law, Financial Decision Making, and Visualising and Communicating Insights in Business, followed by Corporate Accounting, Business Research Design, Quantitative Methods for Economic Analysis, and Strategic Management Control Systems. In the second year, students advance their knowledge and develop professional expertise through courses in Assurance and Forensic Accounting, Taxation Law and Practice, Accounting Thought and Ethics, Advanced Sustainability Accounting, Accountability and Assurance, and a Global Multidisciplinary Business Project. Optional courses allow students to tailor their learning to specific areas of interest or professional relevance. The program also emphasizes practical, real-world applications through work-integrated learning subjects, global study tours, and projects that challenge students to apply accounting knowledge in diverse contexts. Students acquire critical skills in problem-solving, research, and communication, enabling them to justify and convey accounting advice to different audiences.
