COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Work Health and Safety program prepares students to develop advanced knowledge and professional skills in managing workplace health, safety, and risk across diverse industries. In the first year, students complete 96 credit points through eight core courses, including Principles and Practice of Work Health and Safety, Work Health and Safety Science, Work Health and Safety Legal Systems, Human Factors and Occupational Ergonomics, Occupational Hazards and Control, The Psychosocial Work Environment, Organisational Safety, and the Work Health and Safety Intervention Project. These courses provide a strong foundation in legal, scientific, and practical aspects of workplace safety, while emphasizing hazard identification, risk assessment, ergonomic principles, and psychosocial considerations.In the second year, students enhance their research capabilities by completing a 12-credit-point course in Research Design and Methods, equipping them to conduct independent investigations and apply evidence-based approaches to complex workplace safety challenges. Throughout the program, students gain skills in planning and implementing safety interventions, critically evaluating organizational systems, and applying theoretical and practical knowledge to improve occupational health and safety outcomes. Graduates are prepared for professional roles in health and safety management, compliance, risk assessment, and organizational leadership, with the expertise to contribute effectively to safer and healthier work environments.
