COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Information Technology program is designed to equip students with advanced technical skills, professional expertise, and research capabilities in computing, preparing graduates for leadership roles in IT and technology-driven industries. In the first year, students complete 72 credit points of core courses including Programming Fundamentals, Software Engineering Fundamentals, Database Concepts, IT Infrastructure and Security, Advanced Programming, and Usability Engineering. These courses provide a strong foundation in software development, system design, database management, IT security, and user-centered design. In addition, students select 12 credit points from the Advanced Topics Options and a further 12 credit points from either Program Options or Advanced Topics Options, allowing for specialization and the development of expertise aligned with individual career goals.In the second year, students build on this foundation with advanced study and project-based learning. They complete 12 credit points in Algorithms and Analysis and 36 credit points from Advanced Topics Options to deepen technical and analytical skills. For the final 48 credit points, students can choose between three pathways. The Project Option includes Software Engineering Project Management, the Postgraduate Information Technology Project, and Advanced Professional Development, focusing on practical, real-world IT project experience. Research Option 1 involves Computing Research and Project Preparation followed by a Minor Thesis/Project, emphasizing independent research and scholarly contribution. Research Option 2 also begins with Computing Research and Project Preparation and is followed by a two-part Minor Thesis/Project, enabling a structured approach to in-depth research. Overall, the program balances technical proficiency, professional practice, and research expertise, equipping graduates with the skills required to tackle complex computing challenges, manage IT projects, and contribute to innovation in technology-focused industries.
