COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Fashion program is designed to provide students with advanced skills and knowledge in fashion design, research, and industry practice, preparing them for professional careers in the creative fashion sector. In the first year, students begin with compulsory onboarding modules to establish a strong foundation. In Semester One, they complete 24 credit points in Advanced Fashion Materials, Techniques and Expressions, alongside 24 credit points selected from program options such as Fashion Image, New Fashion Propositions, or Fashion Practice Research Strategies. Semester Two builds on this foundation, with students completing 36 credit points through the Advanced Fashion Design Project and a Fashion and Textile Industry Placement Project, complemented by 12 credit points of electives such as Contemporary Fashion Design Presentations and Publications, New Fashion Propositions, or Fashion Practice Research Communication. This structure ensures that students develop practical design expertise, industry insight, and research skills early in the program.In the second year, the focus shifts toward advanced design strategies and professional research. Semester One requires completion of 48 credit points through Advanced Fashion Design Strategies and Advanced Fashion Research Methods, allowing students to explore innovative design approaches and research methodologies in depth. Semester Two emphasizes professional presentation and application of skills, with 24 credit points earned from the Masters Fashion Presentation and Folio course. Additionally, students choose 24 credit points from program options including the Masters Fashion Design Project, Masters Fashion Design Collection, or Masters Fashion Design Placement, providing opportunities for specialization and practical industry engagement. Across both years, the program balances creative exploration, technical mastery, and research-driven practice, culminating in a portfolio and projects that showcase students’ design capabilities. Graduates are equipped with the creative, analytical, and professional skills required to excel in fashion design, consultancy, and leadership roles within the global fashion and textile industry.
