COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) program in Melbourne spans two years, with a structured curriculum designed to build advanced technical and professional skills. In Year One, students complete eight courses, each worth 12 credit points, all offered at the City Campus. These include Sustainable Engineering Practice and Design (OENG1118), Innovation and Technology Management (OENG1115), Risk and Project Management (OENG1117), Modelling and Simulation of Engineering Systems (OENG1116), Advanced CAE (MIET2491), Advanced Thermo Fluids (MIET2489), Advanced Dynamics (MIET2487), and Advanced Mechanics of Solids (MIET2490). These courses focus on developing expertise in core mechanical engineering areas while introducing sustainable practices, management, and system modeling.In Year Two, students undertake three mandatory courses (12 credit points each): Advanced Robotic Systems (MANU2453), Advanced Control Systems (PG) (EEET1368), and Research Methods in Engineering (OENG1120), all at the City Campus. Additionally, students select one Mechanical Option course (12 credit points) from options such as Sustainable Energy Systems and Design (MIET2129), Advanced Manufacturing Technologies (MANU2211), Advanced Mechatronics System Design (MANU2451), Professional Experience Postgraduate (EEET2471), or Humanitarian Engineering (OENG1114). To complete the program, students must undertake a Masters Research Project, choosing either a single 48-credit-point course (OENG1088) or two 24-credit-point courses, Masters Research Project Part 1 (OENG1089) and Part 2 (OENG1090), all at the City Campus. This structure ensures a blend of advanced technical knowledge, research skills, and professional competencies, preparing graduates for leadership roles in mechanical engineering.
