COURSE CURRICULUM

The Cyber Security program is structured across four stages to provide a comprehensive pathway from foundational knowledge to advanced practice and industry engagement. In Stage A, students begin with three core courses, including Case Studies in Cyber Security, Introduction to Information Security, and Programming Fundamentals, which establish essential technical and conceptual skills. Students also select one course from Structures of Cyberspace or Discrete Mathematics to strengthen their understanding of system frameworks and analytical foundations. Stage B builds on these skills with Cryptography for Cyber Security as a core requirement, while students choose three additional courses from a wide range of options such as Advanced Programming, Ethical Hacking, Machine Learning, Cloud Security, IT Infrastructure and Security, and Digital Criminology, allowing for the development of specialised expertise in key areas of cybersecurity. Stage C focuses on integrating risk management and industry awareness through core courses Information Systems Risk Management and the Industry Awareness Project, complemented by two elective courses that can be selected from areas like Digital Strategy, Multi-Factor Authentication, Coding for Cyber Communication, and Applied Analytics, among others. This stage strengthens practical application and analytical capability. Stage D serves as the capstone, with the Industry Linkage Project as the core course, enabling students to apply knowledge in real-world contexts and industry partnerships. Additional electives, including Frontiers of Applied Cryptography, Ethical Hacking, Cloud Security, and other advanced courses, allow students to further specialise in areas of interest, ensuring they are equipped with up-to-date skills and knowledge to meet the evolving challenges of cyber threats. Across all four stages, students acquire a combination of technical, analytical, and strategic competencies, preparing them for diverse career opportunities in cybersecurity, digital risk management, secure communications, and related technology fields, while also providing a foundation for leadership and advanced research roles.
