COURSE CURRICULUM

Year One of the Analytics program is designed to build a strong foundation in both core and applied analytical skills. Students are required to complete 36 credit points from compulsory courses including Applied Analytics, Database Concepts, and Data Wrangling. These courses introduce essential concepts in data management, statistical analysis, and the practical handling of complex datasets. In addition to the core subjects, students select up to 24 credit points from a second set of courses, which includes options such as Essential Mathematics, Data Visualisation and Communication, Machine Learning, and Time Series Analysis. This allows students to tailor their learning to specific interests or career goals, while strengthening their mathematical and computational proficiency. Furthermore, students can choose up to 24 credit points from a third list of advanced analytics courses, offering a broad array of specialised topics such as Optimisation for Decision Making, Applied Bayesian Statistics, Multivariate Analysis Techniques, Regression Analysis, Stochastic Processes and Applications, Sports Analytics, and Statistical Data Science. The flexible structure ensures that students gain both depth and breadth in analytics, equipping them with the analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills required to address real-world business and research challenges. By the end of the first year, graduates will have a well-rounded understanding of data analysis, statistical modelling, and decision-making processes, preparing them for advanced studies or professional roles in data-driven environments.
