COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Geospatial Science program is structured over four years, providing students with a combination of foundational knowledge, technical expertise, and applied research experience. In the first year, students complete a series of compulsory onboarding modules and eight core courses totaling 96 credit points. These courses include Data for a Scientific World (ONPS2700), The World of Life Sciences (ONPS2699), Physical Sciences in Action (ONPS2701), A Mathematical Toolbox for Scientists (MATH2443), Mathematics for Surveying and Geomatics A (MATH2163), Mapping The World (GEOM2077), Surveying Fundamentals (GEOM2088), and Applied Geospatial Techniques (GEOM2083), all delivered at the City Campus. This first-year curriculum ensures students gain a solid understanding of mathematical, physical, and geospatial principles essential for the field.In the second year, students complete 72 credit points of core courses, including Spatial Information Science Fundamentals (GEOM1033), Earth Observation Science (GEOM2084), Surveying Computations and Drafting (GEOM2089), Mathematics for Surveying and Geomatics B (MATH2164), Terrestrial Surveying (GEOM2091), and Statistics and Measurement Analysis (GEOM2162). In addition, students select 24 credit points from specialized electives such as STEM for Sustainable Development (ONPS2702), Innovation Ecosystem and the Future of Work (OENG1235), Foundations of Artificial Intelligence (COSC2960), Foundations in Digital Health (BIOL2525), Spatial Thinking (GEOM2166), or Geospatial Programming (GEOM2159), or they may choose any university elective. This structure allows students to deepen their technical expertise while tailoring their studies to areas of interest.In the third year, students complete 96 credit points, including Cadastral Surveying Law (GEOM2102), Advanced Imaging Technology (GEOM2086), Geodesy and Satellite Navigation Systems (GEOM2119), Cadastral Surveying Practice (GEOM2101), GNSS Surveying (GEOM2093), Geospatial Science Project 1 (GEOM2163), Geospatial Science Project 2 (GEOM2164), and Planning and Environmental Regulation (ARCH1059). These courses emphasize advanced technical knowledge, project work, and applied research.In the fourth year, students complete 48 credit points through Capstone Research (Design) (GEOM2114), Capstone Research (Implementation) (GEOM2115), Survey Network Design and Analysis (GEOM2121), and Engineering and Construction Surveying (GEOM1060). This final year integrates research, design, and applied geospatial practice, preparing graduates for professional roles in surveying, geospatial analysis, and related fields.
