COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science with a Nutrition Science major at RMIT is structured as a flexible double-major program that combines foundational science training with specialised study in nutrition and a second complementary discipline. Students typically complete four subjects per semester, allowing for a balanced progression across both majors, electives, and a final capstone experience. In Year One, Semester One focuses on Foundations of Science, where students study physical sciences, life sciences, mathematics, data analysis, and scientific communication, building essential skills for scientific understanding and problem-solving. In Semester Two, students begin both their Nutrition Science major and their chosen second major, completing two subjects in each area. In Year Two, students continue developing both disciplines in depth, completing four Nutrition Science subjects and four subjects from their second major, gaining advanced knowledge in human nutrition, biochemistry, metabolism, and health science alongside their complementary field of study. In Year Three, students complete the remaining major subjects, along with two electives that provide flexibility to broaden or tailor their learning. The program concludes with a Capstone Project consisting of two subjects, where students apply their knowledge to real-world or industry-based problems. This structure ensures graduates develop strong analytical, scientific, and problem-solving skills while gaining expertise in two disciplines. It prepares them for careers in nutrition, public health, research, healthcare, food industry, and other science-related fields.
