COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Psychology at RMIT requires the completion of 288 credit points (equivalent to 24 courses of 12 credit points each) and is structured to provide a strong foundation in psychological theory, research, and applied practice. The program includes a set of APAC-accredited core courses such as Foundations of Psychology, Principles of Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Research Methods in Psychology, Biological Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Psychological Assessment and Individual Differences, Philosophy and Methodology of Psychology, Professional Practice and Cross-Cultural Psychology, and Psychopathology and Models of Intervention. These subjects build comprehensive knowledge of human behaviour, mental processes, and psychological disorders while also developing strong research and analytical skills. In addition to core studies, students must complete an additional 48 credit points through one of several options. These include completing a Mental Health minor, combining partial Mental Health studies with university electives, or selecting another approved program minor. This flexible structure allows students to tailor their learning according to their interests while maintaining professional accreditation requirements. Throughout the degree, students develop critical thinking, scientific reasoning, and applied psychological skills grounded in evidence-based practice. Overall, the program prepares graduates for further study and professional pathways in psychology, counselling, mental health services, research, and related human behaviour and wellbeing fields.
