COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Pharmacy program is structured to provide students with a comprehensive and progressive education in pharmaceutical science and practice, preparing them for professional registration and a diverse career in pharmacy. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge across a range of subjects, including human anatomy and physiology, medical biochemistry, microbiology and immunology, chemistry for food and life sciences, and the essentials of pharmacy practice. Complementary courses in communication, professional practice, and Indigenous health ensure students develop the interpersonal and cultural competencies necessary for effective healthcare delivery.In the second year, students advance into integrative physiology, pharmacology and toxicology, therapeutic pharmacology, and medicine formulations. Practical pharmacy practice courses are introduced, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge in simulated and clinical environments. Clinical therapeutics courses in this year further enhance students’ understanding of patient-centered care, medication management, and pharmaceutical interventions, fostering both technical and critical thinking skills.The third year emphasizes professional integration and applied practice. Students study medicine manufacture and quality evaluation, pharmacology of medicines for systemic conditions, immunology and therapeutics, and further clinical therapeutics. Integrated pharmaceutical care practice courses and pharmacy practice modules consolidate prior learning by providing hands-on, real-world applications of knowledge in patient care, therapeutic decision-making, and healthcare teamwork.In the fourth year, students focus on advanced integrated therapeutics and pharmacy practice, alongside research methodology for pharmacy students. They undertake either a Pharmacy Research Project or a Professional Pharmacy Project, which develops research, analytical, and problem-solving skills critical for evidence-based practice. Additional options in digital health or innovation ecosystem studies allow students to explore emerging trends in healthcare and technology.Overall, this structured program equips students with the theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and professional experience required for registration as a pharmacist in Australia, while also providing pathways for innovation, research, and leadership in the evolving pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.
