COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Interior Design (Honours) is a four-year program comprising 384 credit points, designed to develop creative, technical, and professional expertise in interior design. In Year One (96 credit points), students establish foundational skills through Interior Design Studios 1 and 2, Material and Spatial Communication, Technical Drawing and Materials, Interior Theory and History, and Structures, Systems, and Services. Year Two (96 credit points) builds on this foundation with Interior Design Studios 3 and 4, Communication Systems, Interior Detailing, Specialised Communication, and Historical and Theoretical Precedents, strengthening students’ conceptual, technical, and communication abilities. In Year Three (96 credit points), students undertake advanced studies through Interior Design Studios 5 and 6, Theory and Research for Design, Practice Technologies, and two Interior Design Specialisation courses, allowing them to explore focused areas of interest while developing industry-relevant skills. Year Four (96 credit points) emphasizes independent research and professional practice through the Interior Design Research Project Proposal, Interior Design Research Strategies, Interior Design Research Major Project, and Interior Design Professional Practice. Students also complete additional specialisation courses or university electives, enabling further customization of their academic experience. The program combines studio-based learning, research, technical training, and industry engagement to prepare graduates for professional careers in interior design across a diverse range of spatial and creative environments.
