COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) (Honours) / Bachelor of Business at RMIT is a comprehensive double degree that combines advanced mechanical engineering training with core business education, requiring completion of a total of 528 credit points across both disciplines. The Mechanical Engineering component consists of 31 courses (372 credit points), including 24 core engineering subjects that build strong foundations in areas such as mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, materials, mechatronics, automotive systems, renewable energy, and computer-aided design. This includes two capstone courses that focus on real-world engineering problem-solving and project development. Students also complete one engineering option course, one university elective, and five courses from engineering minors or option lists, allowing for specialisation and flexibility in areas of interest. The Business component consists of 13 courses (156 credit points), including four foundation business subjects, one capstone course, and eight business option subjects from a selected business combination, covering areas such as management, finance, economics, marketing, and organisational studies. This structure allows students to develop strong technical engineering expertise alongside essential business and leadership skills. By integrating both disciplines, the program prepares graduates for diverse career pathways in engineering design, project management, consultancy, innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership roles in industrial and corporate environments. It is designed to produce professionals capable of managing both technical systems and business operations effectively in global industries.
