COURSE CURRICULUM

The first year of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) program provides a broad foundation in core engineering principles while allowing students to explore different disciplines before choosing a specialisation. Students complete 60 credit points of core courses, including professional engineering practice, digital fundamentals, engineering science, introduction to engineering design, and engineering mathematics. Depending on prior mathematics preparation, students may also take Introduction to Engineering Mathematics or Introduction to Environmental and Sustainable Systems Engineering for 12 credit points. Additionally, students select from introductory courses in various engineering fields—such as aerospace, biomedical, chemical, civil and infrastructure, electrical, environmental, mechanical, or advanced manufacturing and mechatronics engineering—allowing them to gain exposure to multiple disciplines. Those required to take Introduction to Engineering Mathematics complete a total of 24 credit points from these introductory engineering options. At the end of Year One, students choose a specific engineering specialisation, which will determine their Year Two enrolment and subsequent program structure. This approach ensures a strong foundation in engineering principles while providing flexibility to tailor studies to individual interests and career goals.
