COURSE CURRICULUM
In Year One, students complete 84 credit points of core courses including professional engineering practice, digital fundamentals, electrical and electronic engineering, engineering mathematics, engineering science, engineering design, and engineering computing. An additional 12 credit points are selected based on prior mathematics experience, either Introduction to Engineering Mathematics or Introduction to Environmental and Sustainable Systems Engineering. This year provides a strong foundation in engineering principles, problem-solving, and technical skills.Year Two focuses on developing applied electrical engineering knowledge. Students complete 72 credit points of core courses including mathematics for engineers, electrical engineering fundamentals, electronics, embedded systems, advanced engineering design, and signals and systems. Depending on Year One selections, students also complete 12 credit points in either Introduction to Environmental and Sustainable Systems Engineering or Systems Engineering Principles, plus an additional 12 credit points from a university elective. This year strengthens analytical and practical skills for electrical system design and implementation.In Year Three, students complete 48 credit points of core courses such as power system analysis and control, control systems, electrical plant, and electrical energy conversion. Alongside this, students complete either 48 credit points from a chosen minor combination or a combination of 24 credit points from their minor and 24 credit points from technical options including systems engineering principles, protection and high-voltage engineering, real-time estimation and control, switched-mode power supplies, electrical building design, or professional engineering experience. This year integrates practical, design-focused, and project-based learning.Year Four emphasizes advanced technical skills, project management, and professional readiness, with 72 credit points covering the two-part Engineering Capstone Project, advanced power systems, renewable electrical energy systems, industrial automation, and power electronic converters. By the end of the program, graduates have the expertise, hands-on experience, and problem-solving capabilities required to design, implement, and manage electrical systems across a wide range of industrial, commercial, and renewable energy applications.
