COURSE CURRICULUM
In Year One, students complete 84 credit points of core courses covering the foundations of engineering and biomedical principles. These include engineering science, engineering mathematics, professional engineering practice, digital fundamentals, engineering design, and introductory courses in biomedical and electrical engineering. An additional 12 credit points are selected based on prior mathematics experience, either Introduction to Engineering Mathematics or Introduction to Environmental and Sustainable Systems Engineering. This first year provides a strong foundation in problem-solving, analytical skills, and basic engineering principles, while introducing students to biomedical applications.Year Two focuses on applied biomedical and engineering skills, with 84 credit points covering mathematics for engineering, biomedical chemistry, structural materials, human physiology, electronics and bioinstrumentation, biomedical system design, digital biomedical design, and engineering computing. Students also complete 12 credit points in either Introduction to Environmental and Sustainable Systems Engineering or Systems Engineering Principles, depending on Year One selections. This year emphasizes the integration of engineering techniques with biomedical systems, preparing students to design and analyse biomedical devices and processes.In Year Three, students advance their understanding of biomedical engineering applications through 36 credit points of core courses such as biomedical engineering practice and design, biomechanics, and biofluid dynamics. An additional 12 credit points are chosen from Systems Engineering Principles or Biomedical Signal Analysis and Image Processing, depending on prior coursework. This year combines theoretical knowledge with practical, hands-on experience, allowing students to work on real-world biomedical engineering challenges and refine their skills in analysis, design, and systems integration.
