COURSE CURRICULUM
In Year One, students complete 84 credit points of core modules covering the foundations of engineering and aerospace, including professional engineering practice, aerospace engineering principles, engineering mathematics, engineering science, mechanical engineering, engineering design, and digital fundamentals. An additional 12 credit points are selected based on prior mathematics experience, either Introduction to Engineering Mathematics or Introduction to Environmental and Sustainable Systems Engineering. These courses establish the essential theoretical and practical knowledge required for subsequent years.Year Two focuses on developing intermediate and applied engineering skills across 84 credit points. Students study mechanics and materials, engineering dynamics, advanced mathematics for engineers, flight mechanics, applied thermodynamics, principles of aerodynamics, and systems engineering principles. Students also complete 12 credit points of either a university elective or Introduction to Environmental and Sustainable Systems Engineering, depending on Year One selections. This year strengthens analytical, problem-solving, and technical capabilities, preparing students for specialised aerospace topics. In Year Three, students undertake 48 credit points of core aerospace courses including aerospace propulsion, aerospace structures, computational and high-speed aerodynamics, and finite element analysis. Alongside this, students complete either a 48-credit-point minor combination or a combination of 24 credit points from their minor and 24 credit points from technical options such as aerospace design and manufacture, aerospace special projects, computational fluid dynamics, or geodesy and satellite navigation systems. This year integrates theoretical understanding with practical design, computational, and project-based learning.Year Four focuses on advanced applications and professional preparation. Students complete 72 credit points, including the two-part Engineering Capstone Project, aerospace design principles, aerospace structures studio, aerospace dynamics and control, and an aerospace systems design project. These courses emphasise problem-solving, design integration, teamwork, and the practical application of engineering principles in real-world aerospace projects. By the end of the program, graduates are equipped with the technical expertise, analytical skills, and professional experience needed to pursue careers in aircraft and spacecraft design, propulsion systems, and broader aerospace engineering fields.
