COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Games Design at RMIT is structured to provide students with a strong foundation in game design theory, creative practice, and technical skills, while also offering opportunities for specialisation and industry engagement. In the first year, students complete six core courses, including Game Design Studios 1 and 2, Principles of Play, and Creative Practice courses, which establish a solid understanding of game mechanics, design processes, and creative methodologies. The second year builds on this foundation through five courses, including Game Design Studios 3 and 4, Game Cultures, and two specialisation courses, allowing students to refine their skills in both the technical and cultural aspects of game design. The third year focuses on advanced game design and professional development, with four core courses such as Game Design Studio 5, Game Studies, Play Futures, and a third specialisation course. Students also complete either Game Design Studio 6 or a Games Internship, providing hands-on experience and industry exposure to prepare graduates for careers in game development, interactive media, and related creative industries. This structure ensures students graduate with a robust portfolio and the practical, creative, and professional skills needed to succeed in the dynamic world of games and interactive media.
