COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Animation and Interactive Media at RMIT is structured to develop strong technical and creative skills in animation, interactive media, and visual effects. In the first year, students complete six foundational courses, including two studio-based courses, design-focused subjects, and studies in animation history and futures, establishing a solid grounding in both practical and theoretical aspects. In the second year, students advance their studio practice with two core studio courses while selecting three program option courses from areas such as 2D and 3D animation, visual effects, sound design, and animation effects, along with one university elective to broaden their learning. The third year focuses on higher-level studio practice and project work, including a major project and a course on project concepts, supported by two additional program option courses that allow students to specialize further in advanced animation, visual effects, or sound design. Across all three years, students gain hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and technologies, develop a strong portfolio of work, and are prepared to enter professional roles in animation, interactive media, visual effects, and related creative industries. This combination of practical studio work, theoretical knowledge, and specialized options ensures graduates are both technically proficient and creatively versatile, ready to contribute to dynamic media and animation sectors.
