COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Criminology and Psychology is a three-year program designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of criminal behaviour and the psychological principles that underpin it. In the first year, students complete 84 credit points of core courses, including Criminal Psychology, Foundations of Criminology, Foundations of Psychology, Introduction to Law and Human Rights, Criminological Theory, Principles of Psychology, and Forensic Interviewing, along with 12 credit points from a program option or an alternative negotiated with the Program Manager. The second year focuses on developing in-depth psychological knowledge and research skills through courses such as Biological Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Research Methods in Psychology, Social Psychology, and Cognitive Psychology. Students also complete 12 credit points from a university elective and 24 credit points from program option courses, which may include practical experiences such as the Justice & Legal Internship. In the third year, students undertake 84 credit points of advanced courses, including Case Management Practice, Forensic Psychology, Philosophy and Methodology of Psychology, Professional Practices and Cross-Cultural Psychology, Criminal Behaviour Analysis, Psychological Assessment and Individual Differences, and Psychopathology and Models of Intervention. This structure equips graduates with strong analytical, research, and practical skills, preparing them for careers in justice, human services, forensic psychology, and related fields where understanding, assessing, and managing human behaviour are essential.
