COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours) is a four-year program designed to develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills for a career in construction management. In the first year, students complete eight core courses, including Introduction to Buildings, Introduction to Property, Project Management Concepts, Communications for Built Environment Professionals, Introduction to Construction Processes, Property and Capital Markets, Techniques for Project Planning and Management, and Managing for Sustainability. These courses provide foundational knowledge in construction principles, project planning, property markets, and sustainability. The second year focuses on technical and managerial skills, with seven courses covering Building Measurement and Estimating, Building Science, Structures and Materials 1, Production Planning and Management, Construction Planning and Design 1, Introduction to Built Environment Law, and Property Economics, along with one university elective. In the third year, students advance their expertise through courses such as Building Services, Construction Contract Law, Cost Planning and Tendering, Integrated Building Information Modelling, Construction Contract Administration, Construction Technology 2, and Research Methods for the Built Environment, complemented by another university elective. The fourth and final year emphasizes leadership, applied practice, and research, including Construction and Business Enterprise, Industrial Environment, Management and Leadership in Construction, Research Practice 1 and 2, the Construction Capstone Project, and a Construction Specialisation course. This comprehensive program equips graduates with the knowledge and technical skills to manage construction projects safely and efficiently, understand legal and economic aspects of the industry, and confidently lead projects from inception to completion, preparing them for professional roles in construction management, project planning, and built environment leadership.
