COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Information Technology (Professional) is a four-year program designed to develop advanced technical skills, professional experience, and industry readiness in computing and IT. In the first year, students complete 96 credit points of core courses, including Java Programming Bootcamp and Studio, C++ Programming Bootcamp and Studio, Introduction to Mathematics for Computing, and Mathematics for Computing 1, providing a solid foundation in programming, software development, and mathematical principles for computing. The second year focuses on expanding technical and analytical knowledge with 60 credit points of core courses such as Introduction to Cyber Security, Essentials of Computing, Software Engineering Fundamentals, Foundations of Artificial Intelligence, and Algorithms and Analysis, along with 36 credit points from selected combination courses for personalisation and specialisation. In the third year, students undertake 24 credit points in Programming Project 1 and Innovation Ecosystem and the Future of Work, alongside 12 credit points in advanced courses such as Software Engineering: Process and Tools, Artificial Intelligence, or Machine Learning, and 60 credit points from their selected combination. The fourth year is industry-focused, offering two pathways: Path 1 involves 96 credit points of internship courses including Industry Experience 3a and 3b with accompanying reflection courses, while Path 2 combines internship and professional development courses, totaling 84 credit points, plus courses on professional development and innovation. An additional 12 credit points are completed from entrepreneurship or business strategy courses. This structure ensures students gain hands-on industry experience, professional skills, and technical expertise, preparing them for careers in IT, software development, cybersecurity, AI, and related technology-driven industries.
