COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Computer Science is a three-year program designed to provide students with a strong foundation in computing principles, software development, and emerging technologies. In the first year, students complete eight core courses including Discrete Structures in Computing, Introduction to Computer Systems, Programming Techniques, User-Centred Design, Security in Computing and Information Technology, Further Programming, Database Concepts, and Introduction to Analytics. These courses establish essential skills in programming, system design, database management, and analytical thinking. In the second year, students advance their knowledge through six core courses: Computing Theory, Software Engineering Fundamentals, Advanced Programming Techniques, Software Engineering: Process and Tools, Algorithms and Analysis, and Operating Systems Principles. Additionally, students select two courses from Computer Science options, allowing them to specialise in areas of interest. The third year focuses on professional and applied computing skills with courses in Professional Computing Practice, Artificial Intelligence, and Cloud Computing. Students also complete a capstone project by choosing one course from Programming Project 1 or Programming Project 2, providing hands-on experience in software development and project management. Throughout the program, students develop problem-solving, technical, and analytical skills, preparing them for careers in software engineering, IT consultancy, data analysis, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and other computing-related industries.
