COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Biomedical Science program provides a structured three-year study plan designed to build a deep understanding of biological systems, disease mechanisms, and medical science applications. In the first year, students complete foundational courses including Biology of the Cell, Introduction to Biomedical Science, Chemistry for Food and Life Science, and Statistics and Epidemiology. These are complemented by Introduction to Medical Biochemistry, Introduction to Microbiology, Immunology and Genetics, and Introduction to Human Biosciences. Students also have the option to study Foundations of Artificial Intelligence for STEM or select a university elective to broaden their academic experience. The second year advances into more specialised areas with core courses such as Biochemistry and Molecular Biology 1, Human Physiology 1 and 2, Developmental and Cell Biology, and Clinical Biochemistry 1. Students further tailor their learning by choosing two electives from subjects like Histology, Clinical Immunology, Diagnostic Microbiology, Anatomy, and Pharmacology. They may again choose between the Artificial Intelligence course or a university elective. In the third and final year, the program focuses on advanced integration and practical application through Cellular Communication and Practical Biomedical Sciences. Students also choose six electives from a diverse list including Gene Technologies, Cardiorespiratory Biology, Applied Biochemical Methods, Medical Microbiology, General and Integrative Pathology, Neuroscience, Tissue Growth and Repair, Functional Genomics and Proteomics, and Pharmacology of Therapeutic Agents. This combination of theoretical, laboratory, and elective-based learning allows students to tailor their degree to specific biomedical interests. Graduates are equipped with the scientific knowledge, laboratory techniques, and analytical skills necessary for careers in biomedical research, clinical laboratories, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and further postgraduate study in health and medical sciences.
