COURSE CURRICULUM

The music program outlined spans three years and is structured to provide a comprehensive education in music through a combination of core courses, minor stream electives, and school options. In the first year, students must complete two core courses, Music: People and Practices and Music: Performance and Production, each worth 24 credit points, both offered at the City Campus. Additionally, students select two courses from designated Minor Streams, listed after the Year Three course details, and choose two courses from the School Options list, ensuring they have not previously taken or passed these courses. In the second year, students undertake three core courses: Music: Style and Genre (24 credit points), Music in Popular Culture (12 credit points), and Music: Global Perspectives (24 credit points), all at the City Campus. They also complete one course from the Minor Streams, which must align with the same Minor Stream chosen in Year One if pursuing a single stream, and select two additional courses from the School Options list, again avoiding previously completed courses. In the third year, students focus on two core courses, Music: Career Pathways and Music: Major Project, each carrying 24 credit points, both at the City Campus. This structure ensures a balance of foundational knowledge, specialized study through minors, and flexible electives, culminating in a capstone project and career-oriented coursework. The program design allows students to tailor their education to their interests while building a strong foundation in music theory, practice, and industry application, preparing them for diverse career paths in the music field.
