COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Creative Writing program is a three-year degree designed to develop students’ writing skills through a combination of core courses, minor streams, school options, and electives, all delivered at the City Campus. In the first year, students complete 96 credit points, including two core courses: Creative Writing Studio: Foundations (COMM2646, 24 credit points) and Creative Writing Studio: Craft (COMM2648, 24 credit points). Additionally, students select two courses (24 credit points each, totaling 48 credit points) from the Minor Streams listed at the end of the program structure and two courses (24 credit points total) from the School Options list, ensuring they have not previously taken or passed these courses.In the second year, students complete 96 credit points, including two core courses: Creative Writing Studio: Specialisation (COMM2649, 24 credit points) and Creative Writing Studio: Collaborations (COMM2650, 24 credit points). They also choose one course (12 credit points) from the Minor Streams, which must align with the Minor Stream selected in Year One if pursuing a single Minor. Additionally, students select two courses (24 credit points total) from the School Options list, not previously taken or passed, and one University Elective (12 credit points).In the third year, students complete 72 credit points through four core courses: Creative Writing Studio: Horizons (COMM2651, 24 credit points), Creative Writing: Approaches to Theories and Ideas (COMM2645, 12 credit points), Essay Project (COMM2647, 12 credit points), and Creative Writing Studio: Project (COMM2652, 24 credit points). This structure fosters advanced writing techniques, theoretical understanding, and project-based learning.
