COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Accounting / Bachelor of Commerce at RMIT is a structured four-year double degree designed to integrate professional accounting expertise with broader commerce and business knowledge, particularly in the context of emerging digital technologies. In Year One, students complete 96 credit points of foundational study, including Enterprise AI and Business Analytics, Value-driven Marketing, Principles of the Economy, Responsible Leadership and Enterprise, International Business in the Digital Era, Digital Business Security and Risk Management, Accounting in Organisations and Society, and Business Law. These subjects provide a strong base in accounting, economics, law, leadership, and digital business systems. In Year Two, students continue with advanced subjects such as Accounting Data Analytics and Visualisation, Financial Accounting and Analysis, Company and Finance Law, Economics and Quantitative Analysis, Financial Instruments and Technologies, Cost Analysis and Organisational Decisions, Managerial Advisory Finance, and Navigating Australian Commerce in the Digital Age. In Year Three, students complete core accounting subjects including Financial Accountability and Reporting, Taxation, Accounting Behaviour and Organisations, and Critical Accounting Perspectives, along with a 48-credit-point major in a chosen commerce area. In Year Four, students study Auditing and Strategic Accounting and Leadership, plus option courses such as Taxation 2, Sustainability Reporting, Ethics, Forensic Investigation, and Business Internships, while completing the remainder of their major. Overall, the program develops strong analytical, financial, and strategic skills for careers in accounting, commerce, consulting, and business leadership.
