COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Accounting Professional Practice at RMIT is a structured four-year program designed to develop strong technical accounting expertise, business knowledge, and professional workplace experience. In Year One, students complete 96 credit points of foundational subjects including Business Decision Making, Understanding the Business Environment, Business in Society, Business Law, Accounting in Organisations and Society, Economics and Quantitative Analysis, Integrated Perspectives on Business Problems, and Impact Academy 1, which together build a broad understanding of business systems, economics, law, and introductory accounting concepts. In Year Two, students progress to more specialised studies such as Financial Accounting and Analysis, Accounting Data Analytics and Visualisation, Cost Analysis and Organisational Decisions, Managerial Advisory Finance, Financial Accountability and Reporting, Company and Finance Law, and professional development subjects including Impact Academy 2. Year Three is focused on professional experience, where students undertake industry-based learning through Professional Apprentice programs or Business Internships, gaining real workplace exposure and applied skills in accounting and business environments. In Year Four, students complete advanced accounting subjects including Taxation, Auditing, Strategic Accounting and Leadership, Critical Accounting Perspectives, and Accounting Behaviour and Organisations, along with a Business Research Lab and university electives for flexibility. Overall, the program integrates academic learning with professional practice, preparing graduates for careers in accounting, auditing, taxation, finance, consulting, and business analysis.
