COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Engineering Practice is a 48-credit-point program designed to provide advanced engineering knowledge, practical skills, and professional experience. The course core consists of 15 credit points, including units such as Modelling and Systems Engineering, Engineering Sustainability, Finance, Management, Ethics and Law, and Foundations of Data Science. Students also complete the Engineering Professional Practice unit (0 credit points) to gain hands-on industry experience.Students select 3 credit points of specific electives from options including Industrial Process Control, Industrial Control Systems, Microcontrollers and Data Communication, Circular Economy and Innovation, Electrical Machines in the Smart Grid era, Renewable Energy Resources and Technologies, Hydrogen Systems, Machine Learning, Greenhouse Gas Reporting and Life Cycle Assessment, Energy Storage, Energy Auditing and Management, Postgraduate Engineering Skills and Tools, or Wandju Boodja (Welcome to Country).A major of 21 credit points is required, allowing students to specialise in one of three areas: Intelligent Industrial Control and Autonomous Systems Engineering, Environmental and Sustainable Systems Engineering, or Smart and Renewable Electrical Power Systems Engineering.Finally, students choose 12 credit points from one of two minors: Engineering Design or Engineering Research, which can extend their studies into design or research-focused career pathways. This structure balances core engineering principles, specialised major expertise, elective flexibility, and professional practice, preparing graduates for diverse engineering roles in industry and research.
