COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Decarbonisation, Energy and Sustainability Management (Advanced) curriculum consists of 48 credit points designed to develop advanced expertise in sustainability, energy transition, and climate action. The course begins with 12 credit points of core units covering essential areas such as Carbon Management, Life Cycle Assessment, Just Transition – Renewable Energy and Beyond, and Sustainability and Climate Related Reporting. Students then complete a 12-credit-point major, choosing from Strategic Decarbonisation, Renewable and Sustainable Energy, Sustainable Cities and Infrastructure, or Corporate Sustainability Management, allowing them to tailor their studies to their professional interests. An additional major or specialisation option further strengthens interdisciplinary knowledge across technical, environmental, business, and policy areas. Students complete 24 credit points of options, including professional practice units and specific electives. The professional practice pathway includes Sustainable Project Development and Management along with electives covering climate change science and policy, carbon markets, low-carbon economics, energy efficiency, climate risk assessment, circular economy, renewable energy systems, smart sustainable cities, business analytics, and sustainability management. Students who meet academic requirements may undertake a research pathway through a dissertation in Decarbonisation, Energy and Sustainability Management, developing advanced research and analytical capabilities. Overall, the curriculum combines technical knowledge, strategic thinking, policy understanding, and practical project skills to prepare graduates for leadership roles in sustainability, renewable energy, carbon management, and decarbonisation initiatives across industries and communities.
