COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science and Master of High Performance Sport at Murdoch University consists of 108 credit points, combining foundational sport science education with advanced postgraduate training in high-performance environments. The Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science component includes 72 credit points, with 60 credit points of core units covering essential areas such as allied health foundations, research methods, coaching and communication, human physiology, functional anatomy, exercise psychology, exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor control, resistance training, sport psychology, exercise prescription, clinical exercise applications, and evidence-based practice. Students also complete a Discovery Study unit and general elective options to broaden their learning experience. The Master of High Performance Sport component consists of 36 credit points of advanced coursework and practical training. Students study specialised units including Advanced Strength and Conditioning and Coaching Science, Testing and Monitoring in High Performance Sport, Advanced Topics in Sports Science, and Research Methods for Exercise Science. A significant focus is placed on practical and research-based learning through the Sports Science Practicum and Thesis in Sports Science, enabling students to apply advanced knowledge to real-world performance challenges. This integrated structure develops expertise in athlete assessment, performance optimisation, sports science research, and evidence-based decision-making, preparing graduates for careers as sports scientists, performance analysts, high-performance managers, strength and conditioning coaches, rehabilitation consultants, and exercise professionals.
