COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science and Bachelor of Psychology combined degree at Murdoch University consists of 96 credit points, combining scientific knowledge of human movement with specialised study in psychological science. The course core includes 54 credit points, beginning with Foundation Skills for Studies in Allied Health, which supports academic and professional development. The Sport and Exercise Science component includes 51 credit points of core units covering essential areas such as coaching and communication, human physiology, functional human anatomy, exercise psychology, exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor control, resistance training, sport psychology, exercise prescription, rehabilitation, and clinical exercise applications. Students develop practical skills in assessing physical performance, designing exercise programs, understanding human movement, and applying evidence-based approaches to health and wellbeing. The program also includes an Exercise Science Practicum, providing valuable opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings. Students complete a 36-credit-point major in Psychological Science, developing understanding of human behaviour, cognition, mental processes, psychological research, and individual differences. A Discovery Study unit and option units provide additional flexibility and interdisciplinary learning opportunities. This integrated course develops expertise in exercise science, psychology, research, communication, and practical application, preparing graduates for careers in sports science, health promotion, rehabilitation, fitness, wellbeing, human resources, and further postgraduate study towards professional registration in psychology or related fields.
