COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science is a 72-credit-point program designed to develop strong foundations in human movement, exercise prescription and applied sports science. The structure includes 60 credit points of core units that progressively build theoretical knowledge, scientific understanding and practical skills required for careers in sport, exercise and health. Students begin with essential introductory units such as Foundation Skills for Studies in Allied Health, Introduction to Sport and Exercise Science, Functional Human Anatomy, Principles of Coaching and Communication and Human Physiology. Research capability is developed through Research Essentials for Allied Health and Evidence-Based Practice. As students advance, they complete a wide range of discipline-specific units including Exercise and Health Psychology, Exercise Physiology I and II, Exercise Screening and Assessment, Biomechanics I and II, Motor Control and Development, Neural Control of Movement, Resistance Training for Health and Performance and Exercise Prescription and Delivery. The program also emphasises applied learning through a supervised Exercise Science Practicum and a capstone unit focused on exercise for complex needs and clinical conditions. In addition to the core, students complete 3 credit points of Discovery Study and 9 credit points of general electives, allowing them to tailor part of the degree to personal interests or complementary areas, provided prerequisite requirements are met. Overall, the structure provides a comprehensive blend of foundational science, advanced exercise knowledge, psychological insight and practical experience, ensuring graduates are well prepared for careers in exercise science, coaching, strength and conditioning and health-related fields.
