COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Science combined degree at Murdoch University consists of 114 credit points and integrates legal studies with specialised scientific knowledge. The course includes 87 credit points of core units, with 72 credit points dedicated to Law studies. The Law component covers essential legal foundations through required units such as Foundations of Law, Criminal Law and Procedure, Torts, Skills for Legal Practice, Statutory Interpretation, Equity, Property Law, Constitutional Law, Contract Law, Evidence, Trusts, Administrative Law, Civil Procedure, Corporations Law, and Ethics and Professional Responsibility, along with specified legal electives. The Science component provides foundational scientific knowledge through selected core units depending on the chosen major. Students pursuing Forensic Biology, Biomedicine, Genetics and Biotechnology, or Clinical Laboratory Science study units including Human Body, Medical, Molecular and Forensic Sciences, Cell Biology, and Chemistry, while students selecting Environmental Science, Marine Biology, or Conservation and Wildlife Biology complete studies in Environmental Biology, Ecology, Sustainability, and Environmental Management. Students also undertake science electives and complete a 24-credit-point major in areas such as Environmental Science and Management, Marine Biology, Conservation and Wildlife Biology, Biomedicine, Forensic Biology, Genetics and Biotechnology, or Clinical Laboratory Science. A Discovery Study unit further supports interdisciplinary learning. This program prepares graduates for careers combining law and science, including lawyer, forensic investigator, environmental professional, laboratory specialist, and scientific advisor roles.
