COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Psychology combined degree at Murdoch University comprises 120 credit points, integrating comprehensive legal education with specialised study in psychological science. The course includes 75 credit points of core study, beginning with the Communication unit, Thinking Communication, which develops essential academic and professional communication skills. The Law component contributes 72 credit points, including 54 credit points of required units covering Foundations of Law, Criminal Law and Procedure, Torts, Contract Law, Property Law, Constitutional Law, Equity, Trusts, Australian Administrative Law, Civil Procedure, Corporations Law, Ethics and Professional Responsibility, and Skills for Legal Practice. Students also complete 18 credit points of law specified electives, allowing them to expand their knowledge in specialised legal fields. The Psychology component consists of a 36-credit-point major in Psychological Science, providing a strong foundation in human behaviour, cognition, psychological research, mental processes, and evidence-based approaches to understanding individuals and society. Students also complete a Discovery Study unit and option units that provide additional flexibility and interdisciplinary learning opportunities. This integrated curriculum develops expertise in legal reasoning, psychological analysis, research, communication, and critical thinking, preparing graduates for careers in law, psychology-related fields, government, community services, research, human resources, policy development, and corporate environments, with pathways to further professional psychology study where required.
