COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Global Security combined degree at Murdoch University consists of 120 credit points, integrating comprehensive legal education with specialised knowledge of global security issues. The course includes 75 credit points of Law units, with 54 credit points of required units covering essential areas of legal study such as Foundations of Law, Criminal Law and Procedure, Torts, Skills for Legal Practice, Statutory Interpretation, Equity, Property Law, Constitutional Law, Contract Law, Evidence, Trusts, Administrative Law, Civil Procedure, Corporations Law, and Ethics and Professional Responsibility. Students also complete 21 credit points of Law specified electives, allowing them to explore advanced legal topics and develop specialised expertise. The Global Security component includes a 24-credit-point major, with students choosing from Cyberspace, Policy and Security; Environment, Conflict and Security; Politics and International Studies; or Terrorism and Counterterrorism Studies. Students further enhance their understanding through 12 credit points of Global Security elective units, a Discovery Study unit, and 6 credit points of general electives, providing opportunities for interdisciplinary learning. This combined program develops strong legal reasoning, analytical, policy, and security skills, preparing graduates for careers in law, intelligence services, government agencies, defence, cybersecurity, border protection, international organisations, and security analysis roles.
