COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts combined degree at Murdoch University comprises 120 credit points, combining comprehensive legal education with specialised study in a chosen arts discipline. The Law component includes 72 credit points, featuring 54 credit points of core units covering essential areas such as Foundations of Law, Criminal Law and Procedure, Torts, Contract Law, Property Law, Constitutional Law, Equity, Trusts, Evidence, Australian Administrative Law, Civil Procedure, Corporations Law, Ethics and Professional Responsibility, and Skills for Legal Practice. Students also complete 18 credit points of law specified electives, allowing them to explore specialised areas of legal practice. The Arts component includes a 24-credit-point major selected from disciplines such as Asian Studies, Community Development, English and Creative Writing, History, International Aid and Development, Indonesian, Japanese, Philosophy, Politics and International Studies, Sociology, Sustainable Development, Theatre and Creative Production, or Tourism and Events. Students also complete a Discovery Study unit, 15 credit points of arts electives, and 6 credit points of general electives, providing flexibility to broaden their academic interests. This integrated curriculum develops advanced legal knowledge alongside strong communication, critical thinking, cultural awareness, and analytical skills, preparing graduates for careers in law, government, diplomacy, public policy, international relations, community development, communications, and related professional fields.
