COURSE CURRICULUM

The Graduate Entry Bachelor of Laws is a 72-credit-point program designed to provide a comprehensive legal education in an accelerated format for students who already hold an undergraduate degree. The structure includes 54 credit points of required core units that build foundational and advanced legal knowledge across key areas essential for professional practice. Students complete core subjects such as Foundations of Law, Criminal Law and Procedure, Torts, Statutory Interpretation, Equity, Property Law A and B, Constitutional Law, Contract Law, Evidence, Trusts, Australian Administrative Law, Civil Procedure, Corporations Law and Ethics and Professional Responsibility. Skills-focused units, including Skills for Legal Practice, ensure that students develop practical competencies alongside theoretical understanding. To personalise their degree and build specialised expertise, students then select 18 credit points of specified electives from a broad list of subject areas. Elective options include fields such as policing and crime prevention, Indigenous peoples and the law, white-collar crime, native title, intellectual property, international trade, tax, insurance, social welfare law, trial advocacy, commercial law, human rights, environmental law, employment relations, family law, planning law, alternative dispute resolution, mediation, mooting and supervised legal research, among many others. Electives are generally offered at least once every two years, allowing flexibility in planning. Students may also choose to complete the recommended minor in Technology and Law, which totals 12 credit points; however, those who select this minor must complete an additional 6 credit points of electives from the prescribed list. Overall, the structure ensures rigorous legal training while offering opportunities to specialise and gain practical experience in areas aligned with students’ interests and career goals.
