COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Forensic Science and Master of Forensic Science at Murdoch University provides a comprehensive pathway for students seeking advanced knowledge and practical skills in forensic investigation and scientific analysis. The bachelor component develops strong foundations in human biology, chemistry, forensic science, cell biology and statistical analysis, while allowing students to specialise in either Forensic Biology or Forensic Chemistry and Toxicology. Students can expand their expertise through elective units covering areas such as medical and molecular sciences, forensic anatomy, DNA analysis, microbiology, haematology, crime science, photography and forensic research. The master’s component builds advanced professional capabilities through specialist studies in chemical criminalistics, forensic death and homicide investigation, fingerprint analysis, forensic genetics and crime scene-to-courtroom processes. A major focus of the program is practical application, with students developing skills in evidence examination, scientific investigation, research methods and forensic reporting. The final masters project provides an opportunity to undertake advanced research and address real-world forensic challenges.
